About
As is often the case with musicians, Daniel has lived and worked across many cities and countries, both in his formative and professional years. Growing up in Geelong, he finished school at the age of 16 and started a degree in medical science before being convinced to pursue music at the Sydney Conservatorium, where he studied with Alexandru Todisecscu. He moved to Brisbane the following year with a partial scholarship to study with Spiros Rantos, at the University of Queensland, and completed his undergraduate degree on full scholarship at the University of Tasmania with Edwin Paling. He was awarded a further scholarship to study in London with David Takeno (Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and Gyorgy Pauk (Royal Academy of Music).

The following years led him to travel, performing in the US and Canada before returning to his birthplace, Singapore, to fulfil his military obligations, eventually earning the rank of Sergeant.

He returned to Australia in 2012 and has since worked as a freelance violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra, and Orchestra Victoria, and is in high demand as a violinist, probably averaging around 400 performances a year.

Much of his work as a violinist has been for commercial productions, but his inspiration remains with the old school of romantic virtuosity. His happiest place is in seeing the combination of high quality musicianship with high quality technical production.
